FAQs with the Managing Director

Our Head of Marketing, Lauren McGregor, sits down with Blackshaw Managing Director, Andrew Chamberlain, to chat about some serious property FAQs. Catch up on what they had to say below: 

Lauren: Hi Andrew

Andrew: Hi Lauren
 

Lauren: So, what do you think the market has in store for 2020?

Andrew: We’ve seen a very strong start to the year, with exceptionally high auction clearance rates and soaring sentiment. I predict particularly strong demand for homes in Belconnen and Woden, a swathe of activity in the range of $2m to $5m, and significantly - a real recovery in apartment/townhouse & off-plan sales.
 

Lauren: Is there really a ‘Peter Blackshaw’?

Andrew: Yes, of course. Peter and his wife Andrea founded the business in 1988 until stepping aside in 2007 at a time of regeneration and growth for the company. In his retirement Peter is an active property / website investor and divides his time between his various exotic holiday homes.
 

Lauren: So, when is the best time to buy a house?

Andrew: When you find one you like! No seriously, in the long run a property that meets all of your needs is a far better solution than trying to pick the bottom of the market or driving the hardest bargain.
 

Lauren: Next holiday destination?

Andrew: That would be a 500km charity bike ride across Thailand for Hands Across the Water. I’m very much looking forward to it, and a great way for Belinda and I to be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.
 

Lauren: How’s the year shaping up for the Blackshaw team?

Andrew: I am so proud of the team and culture we have within the business. We have a number of outstanding new recruits – some starting out their career in real estate, others well-known established agents. Together we have some aggressive growth targets that we will be chasing. For us, this year is all about cementing our position as leaders in the ACT and surrounding region markets and sharing our story with the Canberra community about who we are as a brand in 2020.
