Whether you’re looking for a campsite to host your next family adventure, or a romantic glamping getaway offering the conveniences of home, the choices are plentiful around Canberra and the South Coast. Here are some of our favourites.
CUBBY AND CO (ACT)
Just 15 minutes from Canberra, Mount Majura Vineyard has a reputation for producing some of the region’s best wines, but it’s also home to a cosy tent cubby called Edgar that overlooks the vineyard and cellar door, perfect for anyone looking for a little glamping getaway. Bookings are made on a package basis, which can include a food and wine experience.
ORRORAL (ACT)
This picturesque non-powered bush campground is located within Namadgi National Park and provides a great base to explore the Orroral Valley, the Orroral Homestead, nearby river and heritage walking track. Pitch your tent and then enjoy the facilities, which include gas barbecues, communal fireplace, picnic tables, toilets and a sheltered area. Not suitable for dogs or large groups. Campers must book in advance.

FLEA CREEK (ACT)
This idyllic, non-powered creekside campsite is situated in the valley near the Goodradigbee River in the Brindabella National Park. It is home to some of the area’s prettiest swimming holes and fishing spots and is well-known for birdwatching too. It is very remote, so only accessible via 4WD.
STARY PONDS (ACT)
Stary Ponds is located in Gundary, just 15 minutes from Goulburn, and offers several non-powered camping sites as well as a glamping experience in a large teepee suitable for 2-4 guests. This family-friendly campground is surrounded by luscious bushland, swimming holes and wildlife, plus trails for walking and mountain biking. Facilities include a portaloo toilet, barbecue hot plate and fire pit. Pets are welcome.

TIN CAN RIDGE (ACT)
Tin Can Ridge glamping is set on a 100-acre property in the Tinderry Range 1-hour drive from Canberra. Sitting at 1400m above sea level, the site offers a teepee with fantastic views, queen-sized bed with linen and extra blankets, plus first aid kit, drinking water, cooking utensils, fire pit with wood, barbecue, toilet, and outdoor table with seating. The site also offers non-powered camping for those who wish to bring their own tent. There are a number of walking and mountain biking trails around the property and throughout the nearby Tinderry Nature Reserve. Some campsites are best accessed by 4WD, or on foot, or the host can escort guests to the glamping tent. Bookings are essential. No pets allowed.
HONEYSUCKLE CAMPGROUND (ACT)
The historic Honeysuckle Campground is located within Namadgi National Park, close to the former space tracking station site, Booroomba Rocks, and the Australian Alps Walking Track, which leads to Mount Tennent to the north, and the Orroral Valley to the south. It is a non-powered campsite with gas barbecues, communal fireplace, picnic tables, sheltered area, pit toilets and wheelchair access. Campers must book in advance. No dogs allowed.

TILBA BELL TENT (NSW)
This summer, couples can enjoy a glamping getaway in a safari bell tent situated in the heritage village of Central Tilba, just near Narooma and Gulaga National Park. The tent is spacious and comes with a queen-size bed with plush mattress, luxury linen, lighting, two armchairs and free Wi-Fi. Outdoors, there’s a private garden area with a fire pit and a table with chairs. Onsite, there are some shared facilities, including bathrooms, barbecue, fridge and television. Bookings are essential.
MURRAMARANG NATIONAL PARK (NSW)
The Murramarang National Park is just 20 minutes north of Batemans Bay and is home to some of the South Coast’s most beautiful natural areas, including bushlands, cliffs, headlands, lakes and beaches. Situated throughout the park are many picturesque powered and unpowered camping spots to pitch your tent, including Pebbly Beach, Pretty Beach, Durras Lake North Holiday Park, Lakesea Park, NRMA Murramarang Beachfront Holiday Resort, Joalah Holiday Park, Bundilla Caravan Park, and BIG4 South Durras Holiday Park.
THE COVE, JERVIS BAY (NSW)
The Cove in Jervis Bay offers glampers a little bit of luxury away from home, with waterproof canvas bell tents furnished with a king size bed, outdoor table, deck chairs, daybed (which can be used as an extra bed), plus cutlery, cups, plates and other nice touches. The glamping tents have access to a communal bathroom of three showers, three toilets and one luxe bath under the stars, which is private but is shared among glampers. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is also included. The communal kitchen here includes a commercial fridge, two microwaves, kettles, toasters, chopping boards and knives, and the outdoor dining area is set with tables, benches and two barbecues.
GLENNBROOKE RIVER CAMP (NSW)
Glennbrooke River Camp is located just 15 minutes from Narooma beach and is situated on 1.2km of scenic river frontage which feeds into the Wagonga Inlet. For budgetconscious glampers, this leafy 235-acre farm offers the Cub Brumby, a camper trailer that can be set-up on the riverfront for two guests, with an additional two people permitted in a small tent or swag nearby for an additional cost. The trailer includes a hard floor, annex, a slide-out kitchen, fridge, basic cooking equipment, drinking water, compost camp toilet and fire pit. It is BYO linen, although a mattress protector is provided. Firewood is also available. For camping, there are many picturesque sites on the property to pitch a tent, but campers are required to be fully selfsufficient with their own toilet and shower facilities. Friendly pets are welcome but must remain outside at all times. Bookings are essential.
VENTRICOSA, JERVIS BAY (NSW)
This 40-acre bush retreat is surrounded by native forest and is located just outside Tomerong, just 10 minutes from Huskisson and 20 minutes from Hyams Beach. The glamping tents here are styled for comfort and privacy, each set-up with cosy beds, fresh linen, lighting, and an outdoor sitting area. Shared camp facilities include a rustic camp kitchen, hot showers, flushing toilets, and a central fire pit. They also offer unpowered sites if you want to pitch your own tent.
